Well. That was QUITE the project. First, I partnered with an old friend from art school named Ruth. While I spent my time at university covered in paint, Ruth was a fashion major. First, I painted the designs on watercolor paper. Next, I dusted off those graphic design skills and digitally edited them into the size and shape I wanted the tallitot to be. Then Ruth and I got to exploring fabrics. I wanted the tallitot to feel as luxurious as they look, so for a while every surface in my studio was covered in fabric swatches. We settled on Duchess Satin, a fabric that feels like silk but is heavy enough that it doesn’t slip off your shoulders. Once that was settled, we went in search of production partners who can use the dye sublimation method to print my paintings onto fabric. Once again, we got samples galore. In the end, I found my perfect printing partner all the way in England! Their prints are extremely dense and vibrant, and they\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eonly use the highest quality inks -- just what I was looking for. The day the fabrics arrived in my studio was a very exciting!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cimg src=\"https:\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0109\/9517\/1424\/files\/image6.jpg?v=1667375316\" alt=\"\"\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFinally, we found a small, local sewing house who would take on my tallit project. No sweat shops or outsourcing to China here! These luxurious tallit prayer shawls are made right here in Los Angeles and whenever a batch is ready, I drive through the canyons to the valley and pick them up to insure the quality is always up to my high standards. Plus, when you purchase a tallit online from me, you are supporting three local California small businesses all at once – my art studio, or course, Ruth the pattern maker, and our small sewing house too, which employs new immigrants and helps put food on their kids’ tables.\u003c\/p\u003e"}]

A Tallit as Unique as Your Story
A tallit, also known as a tallis, is a traditional prayer shawl with fringed corners worn during prayer. Many couples also choose to wear a tallit together under the chuppah when they get married, or to use a tallit as a chuppah cover. A tallit is also a traditional Bar or Bat Mitzvah heirloom gift and is often passed down for generations.
The quote on the Atara of this tallit is a special quote from Rabbi Nachman of Breslov. It reads (in Hebrew): "The day you were born is the day God decided that the world could not exist without you."
I work on each and every piece myself in my studio in California, lovingly touching up all the details, carefully examining it and making sure it is absolutely perfect before I gently package it and send it to you. I was looking for a new tallit to celebrate a milestone birthday, and was drawn to a creation on Anna's website, "MYSTICAL FOREST WEARABLE ART JEWISH TALLIT." I'm not sure whether it was the beautiful calming effect of the artwork, or the atarah (phrase at the top center) that drew me in. The atarah says: "The day on which you were born was the day that God decided the world could not exist without you." Not only is that appropriate for a birthday gift (to myself) but it is the signature line on my emails. I decided I had to have this tallit! It arrived within a few short days of my ordering it, carefully wrapped with a personalized note from artist Anna. I had asked about the size of the optional kippah, and she sent me a photo of it on her head so I could see the size. What individualized attention she devoted to getting my order JUST RIGHT! This is not the first item I have ordered from her, and she consistently goes the extra mile to make sure her customers are 100% satisfied. I recommend her work to my friends and colleagues, and know that my closest colleagues are also purchasing from her for the weddings they perform, and other life cycle events they officiate.
