A Special Award for Congressman Hakeem Jeffries

I was so touched when the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York asked me to create a special award for Congressman Hakeem Jeffries. I have been a fan of the Congressman for a long time. He has been a true, vocal friend of the Jewish community, even when it is not easy.

I am so proud to have made the inaugural Shamash Leadership Award presented to him in December 2024. In his role as House Democratic Leader, Congressman Jeffries was a steadfast voice against antisemitism in all its forms and champion of security assistance to Israel.

Thank you, Congressman Jeffries, for your extraordinary leadership in the wake of October 7, for combating the BDS movement, and for helping protect Jewish community sites. Thank you for your moral clarity and friendship. 🇺🇸🇮🇱
