A Photo Montage Ketubah for Bridget and Julian

Bridget and Julian look like the couple out of every little girl's fairy tale wedding vision board. No joke, Disney animators could not dream up with a couple this perfect -- but their beauty and stunning photos are just the tip of the iceberg.

Can you believe that Bridget secretly studied French for 9 months leading up to the wedding in order to surprise Julian and his family (who are French) with a speech in their native tongue?

Boy do they know how to make their guests sob. I have heard many impressive wedding stories and surprises, but this one blew me away!

Bridget and Julian met in the digital labyrinth called Bumble during the good ol' Covid lockdown days. It started with an inexplicable certainty.  Somehow they both knew deep down that they had found "the one".  What truly confirmed this was experiencing how genuinely they cared about each other's success and how they supported each other through setbacks. That's couple goals right there!

They wanted their ketubah to be unique - a piece of art that represented the day of the wedding and the moments that paved the path to their special day.

So they decided to go with a photo montage ketubah -- that's when I make a ketubah design based entirely on the couple's photos. I stick pretty close to the original pictures with the painting, a true representation of their life together. The couple can incorporate scenes from their travel, proposal, cultural backgrounds and anything else they like!

In Bridget and Julian's case, they decided to include the story of their proposal at the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, a running trail through a forest (they were both also college runners), big oak trees to symbolize family, and pink Ojai mountains to represent their wedding venue.

Here is Julian and Bridget freshly engaged:

In addition, they wanted me to hide a bunch of fun little symbols in there to further elaborate on their story. These included: a deck of cards, dog paw prints, a symbol of France, a symbol of NYC, and a bumble bee. Challenge Accepted!

With photo montage ketubahs, rather than doing pencil sketches, I actually make a mockup of the photos themselves, so the couple can have a very good sense of what the final ketubah will look like. Here are some of the different layout ideas I presented Bridget and Julian with:

This was the final sketch they approved:

So I got to work!

Taaadaaa!

Bridget and Julian loved their ketubah and confessed to watching their reveal video at least 5 times. Mission accomplished. Now it was time to celebrate.

I asked Bridget and Julian their favorite moment of the wedding day?

No surprise that it was the big reveal -- Bridget's shocking French speech! Way to go!!!

What advice would these guys give to other couples just starting the wedding planning process?

Emotions are running high - be extra attentive to what your partner needs during this time. Pay attention to the subtle things. (Words to live by long after the wedding day too I would add!)

What is the most important value as a foundation for your marriage and why?

Self-reflection - on ourselves and on our relationship.

And who took these incredible wedding photos?

Laura Gordon Photography -- what an eye she has!

Mazel Tov Julian and Bridget! May you always surprise each other, cherish and support one another. May your life together be full of pink mountains, fresh green running trails, fulfillment, and adventure! L'Chaim!
