Dear Mom, I want you to know that...

Moms. No one loves us like they do.

Also, no one makes us crazy like they do.

Each of my paintings tells a story. With Mother’s Day around the corner, I got to thinking about the the stories of mothers and children -- the things we think, but don't always say to one other.

So, I asked my friends on Facebook and Instagram to finish the sentence,

“Dear Mom, I want  you to know that…” The answers surprised me, made me laugh, and some even made me cry.

The one that choked me up the most, was from a dear friend who lost her mom to cancer while she was pregnant with her first child. This is what she wrote:

For my part, we recently relocated from Houston to the Bay Area to live near my mom. This is the first time we have lived in the same state since my daughters were born.

So, Mom, this mother's day I will tell you that living near you has been a total life changer for all four of us. Thank you for being so helpful, nurturing, and understanding. And for spoiling our monsters rotten.

This Mother’s Day, let’s tell the moms in our lives how it is-- whether it is your mom, step-mom, mother-in-law, mentor, or the mother of your children.

Mom, I love you. Mom, you’re my role model. Mom, I know it isn't  easy. Mom, I am so much like you. Mom, thank you.
